How to resize an image
- Upload a JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF or BMP image. Its current size is shown.
- Type a new width or height. With Lock aspect ratio on, the other value updates automatically. Or enter a percentage, or choose a preset.
- If the new shape is different from the original, choose Stretch, Fit inside (adds padding in your chosen colour) or Fill and crop.
- Click Resize image and download the result.
Resize without distortion
Changing only the width or height while the ratio is locked keeps the picture’s proportions, so faces and objects don’t look squashed. When a platform needs an exact shape, like a 1080 × 1080 square post or a 1280 × 720 YouTube thumbnail, the fit and crop options help: Fit inside shows the whole image with even borders, while Fill and crop fills the frame and trims the edges from the centre.
Resizing uses your browser’s high-quality smoothing. The output keeps the original format unless you pick another, and PNG and WebP transparency is preserved. Images are processed locally on your device and are not uploaded.

Image resizer FAQ
Can I make an image bigger?
Yes, up to 10,000 × 10,000 pixels, but enlarging can’t add detail that wasn’t there, so big increases look soft.
Does resizing reduce file size?
Making an image smaller in pixels almost always reduces the file size. For extra savings, run it through the Image Compressor afterwards.
Which mode should I use for profile pictures?
Use a square preset with “Fill and crop”, or the Image Cropper to choose exactly which part is kept.
