Small text jobs, done in seconds
Writers, students, marketers and developers deal with text all day, and many of the fiddly jobs are the same. The Word Counter tracks words, sentences, paragraphs and reading time as you type, which helps with essays, articles and submissions that have a word limit. For social posts, SMS and meta tags where every character counts, the Character Counter lets you set a limit and shows how many characters remain.
Cleaning up copied text is just as quick. Fix accidental caps lock or format headlines with the Case Converter, tidy lists and spreadsheets exports with Remove Duplicate Lines, and swap names, terms or typos in bulk with Find and Replace. When you need to see exactly what changed between two drafts, the Text Diff Checker highlights additions and removals word by word or line by line. Designers can fill layouts using the Lorem Ipsum Generator.
Accurate with every language
The counters use your browser’s built-in language rules, so emoji, accented letters and scripts such as Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Chinese and Japanese are counted sensibly. Your text never leaves the page: there is no server processing, no saving and no history.
Text tools FAQ
Is my text stored or shared?
No. Everything happens in your browser tab. When you close or refresh the page, the text is gone.
How are words counted?
A word is a run of letters or numbers. Hyphenated words like “co-op” and contractions like “don’t” count as one word, matching how most word processors count.
Is there a length limit?
No fixed limit. Very long documents of several hundred thousand words may make your browser slower, especially on phones.
