How to preview a search snippet
- Enter your page title, full URL and meta description. Add your site name if you like.
- Watch the preview update with every keystroke.
- Switch between Desktop and Mobile.
- Edit until the title and description fit without being cut off.
Why preview your snippet?
Your search result is often the first impression people have of your page. A title that ends with “…” halfway through a key phrase, or a description that stops mid-sentence, looks unfinished and may get fewer clicks. This SERP snippet preview measures the text in pixels, which is closer to how search engines truncate than counting characters, because wide letters like “W” take more space than “i”.
The URL is shown in the breadcrumb style search engines use, such as example.com › blog › my-post, with a site name and icon placeholder above it. Character counts and pixel widths are shown under each field.
Please note: this is an approximation. Search engines regularly change their layouts, may rewrite titles and descriptions, and can add dates, ratings or other details. Use the preview as a guide rather than an exact replica.
When to use it
- Before publishing a new page or blog post.
- When rewriting titles for pages with low click-through rates.
- To check translated titles, which are often longer.
- To show clients how a proposed title will look.
SERP snippet preview FAQ
Why is the limit in pixels, not characters?
Search results have a fixed width. A title of narrow letters fits more characters than one with wide letters, so pixels are more accurate.
Is the preview identical to Google?
No. It mimics the general style, but the real appearance varies by device, location and search.
Does it fetch my live page?
No. It only shows what you type, so you can test ideas before changing your site.
