What this PDF merger does
The merge PDF tool copies every page from each file into a brand-new document, keeping the original page sizes, orientation, text, images and vector graphics. Text stays selectable and searchable, because pages are copied rather than converted to pictures. The file list shows each name and size so you can confirm you picked the right documents, and the total size updates as you add or remove files.
All the work happens on your device using pdf-lib, an open-source PDF library. Your documents are never uploaded to our server, which makes the tool a good fit for invoices, payslips, contracts and other paperwork you would rather keep private. If one of the files is damaged or password-protected, the tool tells you which one so you can fix it, instead of creating a broken PDF.
When to combine PDFs
- Job applications: put your cover letter, CV and certificates into one attachment.
- Expense claims: join scanned receipts and an expense form into a single file for your finance team.
- Study notes: collect lecture slides and handouts from a whole term into one document.
- Contracts: attach signed annexes and schedules to the main agreement.
Merge PDF FAQ
Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge?
There is no fixed limit on the number of files. Each file can be up to 200 MB. The practical limit is your device’s memory, so very large jobs work best on a computer.
Will bookmarks and form fields be kept?
Page content is kept exactly. Document-level extras such as bookmarks (outlines) and interactive form fields from the original files may not carry over to the merged file.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
No. Remove the password first in a PDF reader where you know it, then add the unlocked file here.
Does merging reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, without re-compressing images, so the merged PDF looks identical to the originals.
