How to convert PNG to JPG
- Upload one or more PNG files.
- Set the quality. 85–92% keeps photos looking sharp while greatly reducing size.
- Pick a background colour. It fills any transparent parts of the PNG, since JPG can’t store transparency.
- Click Convert and download your JPG files.
Why convert PNG to JPG?
PNG is perfect for logos, screenshots and graphics, but photos saved as PNG are often huge. JPG compresses photographic images much more efficiently, so converting a PNG photo to JPG can shrink it dramatically with no visible difference. JPG is also the most widely accepted image format for uploads, emails and print shops.
The background colour option matters for images with transparent areas, such as logos or cut-out product photos. Without it, transparent pixels would turn black. Choose white for documents and most websites, or match the colour of the page where the image will be shown. The size change is shown for each converted file.
Good candidates for PNG to JPG
- Photos exported or screenshotted as PNG that are too large to send.
- Product images going to a marketplace that requires JPG.
- Scans saved as PNG that you want to email.
- Images for a website where page speed matters.
PNG to JPG FAQ
Will I lose transparency?
Yes. JPG doesn’t support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose. Use WebP if you need small files with transparency.
Is text in screenshots still sharp?
At 90% quality or higher, text stays readable, but PNG remains better for sharp text. Keep screenshots as PNG if they will be zoomed in.
Why is my JPG bigger than the PNG?
Simple graphics with few colours compress very well as PNG. For those, JPG may be larger, and the tool shows that so you can keep the PNG.
